Wish I was Ocean Size…

I’m loathe to quote song lyrics or anything quite so trite… but this really suits my mood at the moment.

And why is this?

Simple. For the first time in 17 years, the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction has performed together… and even better, they are touring and recording…

But where it goes from being great to being a moment worthy of a post-come down cigarette is this… they are touring with Nine Inch Nails, and recording with Trent Reznor producing in the studio.

Keeping things fresh…

I’ve struck the inevitable ‘no mans land’ of blogging… almost a month of nothing written.

How do I write something new, interesting, entertaining, funny, inciteful that doesn’t cross the territory and material of previous rants? How do I write something that is more than a self indulgent, oroboros prose, about why I haven’t been able to blog?

DVD Review: Control (Directors Suite)

Last year I saw the film ‘Control’ at the Brisbane International Film Festival. I even wrote a review on the movie, having enjoyed it immensely.

Concert Review: The Police – Live in Brisbane

Just got back in from seeing The Police at Suncorp Stadium

I’m glad to say that they are as tight as ever… still proof of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. Stewart Copeland’s drumming is as incredible as ever… as is Andy Summers virtuosity on the guitar… and Sting’s still got an amazing set of pipes (must be all that breathing from the Tantra :P).

So, with a platform of talented brilliance to start with, how is that the promoters still managed to completely cock it up? Read the rest of this entry »

The soundtrack to my life… (Disc 2)

Posted on Updated on

My life seems to be defined by a number of things, but like so many other people, there are songs that help us remember times, events and people.

The previous ‘Soundtrack…’ post finished off with the end of my first year of university, the end of innocence and the start of a period of self discovery.

And why is that? Well, it all had to do with a redhead… Read the rest of this entry »
